Abstract:
Tornadoes are rare small-scale weather events, with diameters ranging from tens of meters to several kilometers. Doppler weather radars usually suffer difficulties detecting tornadoes, including speed blur, distance folding, and insufficient resolution. Three types of tornado detection radar were developed and formed a radar network for tornado observation in areas with high frequency of tornado in Jiangsu and Anhui. The adaptive collaborative observation radar networking technology for tornado observation has been proposed to obtain refined tornado data. Tornado recognition and early warning algorithm are proposed to combine radar base data and dual polarization parameters. Tornado observation system, early warning forecast process and specifications are formed, and are applied to the meteorological forecast and early warning department.
